Lot 384

Lovely and extensive unused / mint collection, 1847-1971, in mounts in a Scott National hingeless album. The collector stvied to acquire fresh and bright stamps with good color, and did a good job of it. Highlights include 1847 Issue: #1 (unused without gum, 3 large margins, just touching at left, c.v. $2,100); 1869 Pictorials: 1¢ 3¢ 6¢ and 10¢ (each regummed, c.v. $2,050); 1871-1888 Bank Note Issues: #145, 147, 150, 163, 183, 206-209, 212-215 (each regummed, c.v. $2,802); 1890 Issue complete (regummed, c.v. $1,570 as o.g.); 1893 Columbians: 30¢ 50¢ and $2 (regummed, c.v. $925); 1894-1898 Bureau Issues: 16 different to 15¢ (regummed, c.v. $1,300 as o.g.); 1901 Pan-American Issue: 5¢ 8¢ and 10¢ (regummed, c.v. $205 as o.g.); 1902-1903 Definitives: 3¢ to $1 complete (mostly regummed, some o.g., c.v. $1,200 as o.g. or no gum); 1904-1915 Commemorative Issues: including 2¢ 5¢ & 10¢ Louisiana-Purchase, 1¢ & 2¢ Jamestown and 5 different Panama-Pacific (regummed, c.v. $766 as o.g.); 1908-1918 Washington-Franklin Issues: approximately 70 different including coil pairs, #s 341-342, 422, 518 (some n.h., some o.g., some regummed, c.v. approximately $1,800 as o.g.); 1922-25 Definitives nearly complete including $2 and $5 (low values mostly hinged but $2 and $5 n.h., c.v. approximately $550); from 1925 to 1971 nearly complete n.h. including White Plains souvenir sheet ($500), Kans.-Nebr., Presidentials and Liberty series; plus a smattering of airmail issues. Other than a few questionable coils (not counted anyway), most appear to be sound collectable stamps. A nice lot for the dealer looking for fresh attractive-appearing material to resell, or a collector looking to fill lots of spaces - especially earlier spaces - at once, generally Fine to Very Fine with many Very Fine. Scott $17,000 ++.
Estimate $4,000 - 6,000.
