France, 1849-1898, mint and used collection, mostly used, in a SAFE hingeless album, including Cérès issues, Empire, Bordeaux and Sage both types, plus some Alsace-Lorraine. Most are sound and 4 margins but small faults affect approximately 25% of the catalog value (yes the 5fr Napoleon is faulty, as usual), otherwise generally Fine to Very Fine, overall in much better condition than usually seen. There are many good items in the $30 to $150 range. Scott $4,877.

The collector bought many of his stamps from Cérès in Paris. The good news is that Cérès sold him genuine stamps in decent condition for the period. The bad new is that he paid full retail, and he occasionally drifted and bought from less trustworthy sources (such as the 5fr Napoleon). We figured the faulty at zero, and the balance at 15% .
