Lot 211 1852, 3¢ dull red, type II (Scott 11A), tied by St. Louis postmark on an 1852 folded letter to Alton, Illinois, with lengthy contents including a transcription of a speech given in St. Louis by Lajos Kossuth, the famous Hungarian stateman (portrayed on the U.S. Champion of Liberty stamp # 1117), where Kossuth talked of the sales of Hungarian bonds. A wonderful cover with real historic content, Fine to Very Fine, ex-Blodgett Family Correspondence. The lot is accompanied by a full printed transcription of the letter's contents.
