1847, 5¢ red brown (Scott 1), just clear at bottom to huge margins and on lovely blued paper, tied to a light blue 1849 folded letter to Coburg, Canada by red grid cancel, matching "Rochester, N.Y./5/Jan 4" c.d.s. at right, with red "Queenston/U.C." cross-border handstamp toward bottom, the U.S. portion of the postage is marked "Paid" in manuscript at bottom left while the postage due in Canada is rated at "9"d at top right which reflects the Canadian 101-200 mile rate, with the appropriate arrival backstamp also in red, Extremely Fine.
