1870, 24¢ Scott, purple, without grill, N.B.N.C. printing (Scott 153), with bright color, used with two 2¢ Jackson, Continental printing (#157), tied by light strikes of New York Foreign Mail Geometric cancels on a mourning cover to Moradabad, India (28¢ rate by British Mail via Brindisi), with red "New York 24 Jan. 20" (1875) circular datestamp, red London Paid transit datestamp, red crayon "1" Colonial rate, and a receiving backstamp. Missing part of top flap and some slight edge wear, Fine to Very Fine overall, ex-Turner, Beals, Angel, with 2002 P.F. certificate. A lovely cover to an exotic destination. Scott $1,500+.
