Lote 654 Special Delivery, 1895, 10¢ blue (Scott E5), used with 2¢ postage on an 1899 cover from Auburn, Maine to New York, not delivered because the recipient's office was closed. Reverse bears a printed New York label explaining the special delivery service (from the 13th printing of these labels), plus BOSTON, SPRING & N.Y. R.P.O. backstamp. The special delivery stamp shows a tiny plate flaw in the "N" of "CENTS", Very Fine, a very scarce usage. Estimate $100 - 150. |
