Lote 247 /oFrance, 1849-1940, an extensive mint and used collection, attractively arranged in mounts on Scott album pages, with Scott numbers penciled below, including definitives, commemoratives, semi-postals, pre-cancels and a few postage dues, with many shade varieties. 19th century issues (all used) catalog $3465, 20th century issues (mixed mint hinged and used) catalog $1300. The collection is approximately 90% complete for the period, with very few blank spaces. Best items are the 1849 Ceres 25c used (#6, catalog value $800) and the 1938 Samothrace/Louvre semi-postals LH (#B66-67, $130). Small faults on early issues affect approximately 10% to 20% of the catalog value, but most of the stamps and the value are sound. Centering averages Fine for the early issues, Fine to Very Fine for 20th century issues. A useful and attractive lot for the collector. A sampling has been imaged. Shipping weight 1 lb / 0.45 kilos.
