He had a brief career as an outfielder with the Chicago White Sox before entering umpiring. He umpired in five World Series and six All-Star Games. 1931-2001, Edwin Lee Mathews was an American professional baseball third baseman. He played in Major League Baseball for 17 seasons for the Boston / Milwaukee / Atlanta Braves; Houston Astros and Detroit Tigers. 1918-2010, Robert William Andrew Feller, nicknamed "the Heater from Van Meter", "Bullet Bob", and "Rapid Robert", was an American baseball pitcher who played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Indians between 1936 and 1956.
