1867, 10¢ Washington, green and 12¢ Washington, black, E. grills (Scott 89, 90), tied by target cancels, "San Bernardino Cal. Mar. 3" (1869) circular datestamp on a mourning cover to Sydney, Australia (22¢ rate by British Mail via Southampton), with San Francisco backstamp, red "12 Cents" credit handstamp, Panama transit datestamp of Mar. 24, red London Paid datestamp, and a receiving backstamp. After transiting San Francisco to Panama this cover was carried on the RMS Elbe from Colon to Plymouth, the P&O Pera from Southampton to Alexandria, the Deccan from Suez to Galle and the Geelong from Galle to Sydney. Some slight toning and some perf flaws from placement near edge of cover, Fine to Very Fine overall.
