Lot 210 Political Memorabilia, Judge Magazine of New York, political cartoon centerfolds, 1881-1947, approximately xx political cartoons by artists such as Gillam and Hamilton printed in a weekly satirical magazine published in the United States from 1881 to 1947. It was launched by artists who had left the rival Puck Magazine. It surpassed the success of Puck in the 1880's and 90's with a circulation of 50,000. A few copies have been reinforced with tape at the fold line on the reverse but most are in good to exceptional condition. Some of these sell on ebay from $10 to $50 each! One magazine cover from 1891 which is fairly rare plus approximately 50 unique colorful centerfolds. We have imaged a few to give a flavor of the lot. Estimate $250 - 350. |
