1867, 15¢ Lincoln, black, F. grill (Scott 98), with several noticeable grill points, tied by New York circular datestamp on an 1869 mourning cover to Alger, Algeria, red "New York Paid 6 Jan. 20" credit datestamp, blue Calais entry datestamp (Feb. 1), Paris, Avignon and Alger backstamps. Some edge wear and minor toning around perfs, otherwise Very Fine, a scarce use to Algeria, rates to this destination were the same as for France which is possibly why the sender wrote "france" at upper right. Scott $325.
