c. 1861, Civil War patriotic cover: Flag and Cannon (Walcott L-2757 var. Weiss F-R-421), a handsome bi-color design on a clean and attractive cover to a lady in upstate New York, sent stampless on August 26, 1861, with unusual Fremont N.Y. circular cancels; slightly reduced at right, Fine to Very Fine.

The previous 1857-1860 issue had just been demonetized to prevent usage by the South, and the new 1861 issue had not yet arrived. A very narrow window of time.
