[California] Los Angeles, 3¢ rose tied by 34 mm MAY 24 c.d.s. to Philadelphia, PA; the second type of c.d.s. from Los Angeles with period of use from 28 Sept 1856 to 9 Sept 1864; the 3¢ first class letter rate went into effect July 1, 1863, indicating this cover was mailed on May 25, 1864; roughly opened at right, Fine overall, rarity rating "4" - very scarce. Scott 65.

1893 Columbian Exposition, a scarce and seldom seen 1892 Goldsmith postal card wrapper (UPSS EX24Wa, rarity "c" - not the more common 1893 design), an important and very scarce item for the Columbian postal card specialist; front and back halves completely separated, significant chipping at the edge and other edge faults including tears, etc, Very Good to Fine, most of the handful that still exist are generally in very poor condition.

1893 Columbian Exposition, postal card (UPSS EX53), Goldsmith set 6 (12 deigns), Agricultural Building, with address incorrectly written on the message side and message on the address side. Straight line auxiliary marking "UNMAILABLE" in violet on reverse along with a fair-related message…"and at night the illuminations completely turn my head", Fine to Very Fine, a nice example of this auxiliary marking.
