Lot 1043 |
/o 1851-1970, a large mint and used collection, housed in 3 Scott albums: the first is predominately mint hinged throughout, heavy in the Washington-Franklins and has most of the value; the second album is mainly used stamps from the 20th century and then many commemorative singles; and the third album is back of the book including airmails, postage dues and a decent section of inexpensive revenues. A great collection with lots of finds! A few minor faults, overall Fine to Very Fine. We have imaged much of the first album and some of the third to give a flavor of the lot. Scott approximately $12,180+. Estimate $1,500 - 2,000. View details and enlarged photo | Realized $1,200 |

Lot 1046 |
//o 1857-1992, a very extensive, mostly mint collection, packed with better sets and singles, attractively arranged in mounts in 2 Scott American albums. Regular issues include a scattering of mostly used 19th century and weak Washington-Franklins, then (mint) the 1922-23 issue complete (551-573, LH), 1923 perf. 10 complete, Kans.-Nebr. complete, Presidentials complete, and then virtually complete to 1988. Mint commemoratives include Columbians to the 30¢, Trans-Mississippi to the 10¢, Pan-Americans complete, Louisiana Purchase and Jamestown complete, and then virtually complete from 1919 to 1992 (but no White Plains souvenir sheet). Airmail issues are complete mint to 1988 less only the 1930 Zeppelin set. There are a few special delivery and other back-of-the-book issue (but nothing great) and many booklet panes. Centering averages Fine to Very Fine for the more expensive early mint issues, and Very Fine for the balance; the few used are mediocre. Early mint issues are mainly o.g., hinged, with extensive NH later. Only a few inconsequential faults noted. All in all a really nice intact collection with much value for the collector, or for the dealer looking for better items. A small sampling has been imaged. Shipping weight 9.5 lbs / 4.3 kilos. Scott approximately $8,000. Estimate $1,500 - 2,000. View details and enlarged photo | Unsold | |
