1894, 6¢ Garfield, unwatermarked (Scott 256), a marvelous top margin plate number single, in a quality that is surprisingly challenging to locate, possessing flawless centering amid generously large margins, deep luxurious color and impression on bright paper, o.g., never hinged, Very Fine to Extremely Fine or better, with 2017 P.F. certificate conservatively graded VF-XF 85, plus ungraded 2001 & 1990 P.F. certificates, a gem from the William Floyd collection. We believe this stamp is undergraded and should more realistically grade as XF 90. Scott $475.
