Lot 197 |
/o France, 1849-1898, mint and used collection, mostly used, in a SAFE hingeless album, including Cérès issues, Empire, Bordeaux and Sage both types, plus some Alsace-Lorraine. Most are sound and 4 margins but small faults affect approximately 25% of the catalog value (yes the 5fr Napoleon is faulty, as usual), otherwise generally Fine to Very Fine, overall in much better condition than usually seen. There are many good items in the $30 to $150 range. Scott $4,877. Estimate $500 - 750 The collector bought many of his stamps from Cérès in Paris. The good news is that Cérès sold him genuine stamps in decent condition for the period. The bad new is that he paid full retail, and he occasionally drifted and bought from less trustworthy sources (such as the 5fr Napoleon). We figured the faulty at zero, and the balance at 15% . Lot 198 |
/o/ France, 1854-2000, collector's mint and used duplicates, hundreds and hundreds of stamps, plus about 30 covers, loosely arranged on black stock cards. There is considerable duplication (up to about 10 each), with regular issues, semi-postals, airmail, postage dues, complete booklets, railways, Liberation, millésimes and more. Numerous sets and singles in the $10-$20 range. The great majority are in good condition for the period but there are some faults: for example a 1fr+1fr Orphan (#B9, catalog value $400, blunt corner), a PEXIP souvenir sheet with commemorative cancel (#329, catalog value $300, small stain on front), and there are a few issues without gum. The covers are mostly FDC's from the 1950's, plus an FFI cover from 1944 (€25). Plus there is a small amount of non-France: Germany, Réunion CFA, etc. A useful lot to add to stock or for the collector trying to fill spaces. Shipping weight 2 lbs / 0.9 kilo. Scott $2,500+. Estimate $200 - 300. View details and enlarged photo | Unsold | |
