1851, 3¢ orange brown, type II (Scott 10A), a lovely example tied to an 1851 folded letter by a complete rounded black grid paired with a red New Orleans c.d.s.; the ink shows through the exterior page of the folded letter meaning that the exterior page was used to write the letter, Very Fine to Extremely Fine, a rare 3¢ circular rate for 1,000-1,500 miles. Scott $1,000+.
