[California] Los Angeles (Scott 65), 3¢ rose tied by 34 mm MAY 24 c.d.s. to Philadelphia, PA; the second type of c.d.s. from Los Angeles with period of use from 28 Sept 1856 to 9 Sept 1864; the 3¢ first class letter rate went into effect July 1, 1863, indicating this cover was mailed on May 25, 1864; roughly opened at right, Fine overall, rarity rating "4" - very scarce.
